Welcome to Practice Notes.
A small place for thinking out loud — about therapy, skills, and the slow work of becoming less reactive to your own life.
This is the first entry in what I’m calling Practice Notes — a small, unhurried place for the kind of thinking I do between sessions and wish I had more time to share with the clients I work with.
It will probably look like a few things:
- Short essays on ideas from DBT and self-compassion, written for the people actually using them, not for clinicians.
- Reflections on patterns I keep seeing — the ones that don’t show up in any textbook but show up in a lot of weeks.
- Occasional book notes, almost certainly some Pirsig, possibly Linehan.
I’ll write here when I have something honest to say. No schedule.
If something here speaks to you — or, more usefully, bothers you in a way that’s hard to name — that’s often worth following. I’d be glad to talk.
